Prof. Dr. Hairul Anuar Tajuddin from the Department of Chemistry, University of Malaya, gave a public lecture to students of the Department of Chemistry  Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, Monday, 10/28/19 at FMIPA UNY. On that occasion Hairul delivered material about Research in Organic Chemistry which aims to provide insight for students who want to research in the field of organic chemistry.
Prof. Hairul said there are many areas of research related to organic chemistry including catalysis, synthesis of materials, nano-organics, polymers, organic electronics, and others. Research is the original idea of ​​the researcher and the research carried out is to find something new.
Fundamental research is usually based on the "how" and "why" questions. It also requires a thorough literature review and survey.
"In research there are usually problems that must be overcome. The solution is based on a real problem and focus on the possibility to solve it. A good solution is a solution that solves problems without creating new problems. It requires divergent and convergent thinking ", he explained.
Prof. Hairul added, other important aspects in research are collaboration, multidisciplinary, tools, feasibility, and national and global policies.
