Preparing to enter the world of business and industry is a must for chemistry students in their top semester. Through a guest lecture held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., as many as 207 students taking Industrial Chemistry and Industrial Management courses listened to material on Operations and Production Management delivered by Mr. Mahbub Junaedi, S, Si from PT. Indochem Semesta Semarang.

The speaker explained that production management is an activity to regulate and coordinate the use of resources effectively and efficiently to add value to goods/ services. Production activities cannot be separated from the operating system, which in operations management includes production system planning, production control and production information systems. The speaker gave a real example in operational activities at PT Indochem Semesta, by explaining the production arrangement process which started from the grand design made by the research and development division to determine the raw material requirements. After that, the production planning and inventory system (PPIC) division will design the production flow. The material requirements according to the production design are then purchased by the purchasing division. The quality of the purchased materials is checked by the QC (quality control) division and then stored in the warehouse. After that, the production process based on the batch and lot that has been designed by PPIC begins. Production quality checks are carried out by the QC division which can then be processed in the finishing division which includes packaging for delivery to the customer. The production process at PT Indochem Semesta has pocketed the CPKRTB (Good Method of Making Household Needs) from the Indonesian Ministry of Health. As a manufacturing industry engaged in cleaning and sanitation chemicals, PT Indochem Semesta opens career opportunities for Chemistry study program graduates.
