Lecturer of the Department of Chemistry Education UNY as a Facilitator at the PPKO Programme Inititated by The Chemistry Student Association

The Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program or PPKO HIMA Kimia, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, State University Of Yogyakarta conducted training on processing domestic organic waste into liquid organic fertilizer with a piling bucket system in Joho Village, Prambanan, Klaten, Central Java. This activity is one of the activities organized by the PPK Team Ormawa Hima Kimia FMIPA UNY students with the Smart Farming Village scheme. This activity was attended by KWT or Women Farmers Group in Joho Village. The training was held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at one of the KWT members' houses.

The speaker of this activity was Mrs. Dra. Regina Tutik Padmaningrum, M.Si, who is a chemistry lecturer at FMIPA UNY and is competent in terms of organic waste processing. The choice of this topic is based on the fact that household organic waste is usually just thrown away, whereas if we explore it more deeply, organic waste can be used to be processed into various useful products, one of which is in agriculture, which can be made into liquid fertilizer. In this training, Ms. Regina said that liquid organic fertilizer has benefits including encouraging and increasing the formation of leaf chlorophyll and the formation of root nodules in leguminosae plants, thereby increasing the photosynthetic ability of plants and the absorption of nitrogen from the air, increasing plant vigor so that plants become sturdy and strong, increasing plant resistance to drought, weather stress, and disease-causing pathogen attacks, stimulating the growth of production branches, enhancing the formation of flowers and ovules, reducing the loss of leaves, flowers, and ovules.
