Tengku Khadijah Nurul Hanifah from Chemistry Study Programme won first place in the Selection of Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres) FMIPA Year 2023 participated by 10 students. The selection was attended by students from Statistics S1, Mathematics S1, Science Education S1, Biology S1, Chemistry S1, Physics Education S1, and was held offline at the FMIPA campus on Monday, 3/4/23 with judges from FMIPA lecturers. With the second winner of PILMAPRES, Rana Laily (Physics Education), and the third winner was Asma‘ Khoirunnisa’ (Statistics).

After the completion of the selection event, Dr Isti Yunita as one of the judges provided motivation and reinforcement to all participants. Dr Isti Yunita said that students need to learn new things. For example, Maths students should not only learn Maths but learn other subjects as well.  Don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone. By participating in a pilmapres like this is also an effort to get out of the comfort zone. ‘Also improve your English language skills which can be learnt in various ways. Vocabulary also needs to be expanded. It is not a problem to speak English with a Javanese accent, the important thing is that it is correct,’ Isti Yunita continued.

On the other hand, Tengku Khadijah, after the announcement, explained that she had been preparing this since the opening of the Pilmapres FMIPA selection, including document preparation and creative idea generation. Because it coincided with UTS, there were several times that I had to give up sleep to prepare for this Pilmapres selection. Fortunately, I always uploaded the certificate data on the presmauny.com website so that the certificate collection process did not take much time. For creative ideas, I really started from scratch, from finding ideas to making presentation materials. ‘’To be assigned to represent FMIPA in the selection of Pilmapres at the university level is an honour for me. Of course, I will make a lot of preparations so that I can give the best results for the faculty. After this, I will finalise my creative ideas, maybe I will also ask for reviews from lecturers in FMIPA. Not only that, I will train my presentation skills to be better than before. Regarding English, I will continue to improve my speaking skills as well as broaden my knowledge in the field of SDGs,’ she explained. During her studies, Tengku Khadijah has won various competitions, including winning the Silver Medal at the Youth International Scientific Fair 2022, 2nd place in the National Scientific Writing Competition ESTEC UNEJ 2021, Finalist for PIMNAS 2021, 3rd place in the Opinion Video Competition Nalar.in UNY 2022, etc.
