Guest Lecture "Voltammetry and Its Applications" by Prof. Dr. Ilyas bin Md Isa-Sultan Idris Education University, Malaysia

The Department of Chemistry Education held a Guest Lecture featuring experts in the field of electrochemistry from Sultan Idris University of Education, Malaysia. Prof. Dr. Ilyas bin Md Isa presented on the application of voltammetry in metal ion analysis. In his presentation, he explained that voltammetry offers many benefits, including speed, accuracy, and affordability. However, several studies have been conducted to improve the accuracy and sensitivity of voltammetry instruments, including coating electrodes with chemical compounds that have lone electron pairs in their molecular structure. Materials such as zeolites, calix[4]arene, tannins, and several compounds containing phenolic groups have significant potential for use as electrode coatings.
This guest lecture was conducted in a hybrid format (both offline and online). Prof. Dr. Tien Aminatun, Vice Dean for Research and Cooperation, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Yogyakarta State University (YSU), opened the event. Dr. Pujianto, Vice Dean for Finance, also attended. The offline session was attended by students, lecturers, and educational staff from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Yogyakarta State University (YSU).
Participants were very enthusiastic about participating in this event and exploring electrochemistry, particularly voltammetry. This activity is expected to enhance academic knowledge and insight in the field of electrochemistry, particularly voltammetry. In addition to enhancing academic knowledge and insight, this activity is also a collaboration between Yogyakarta State University and Sultan Idris University of Education, Malaysia, which is expected to play an active role in strengthening international academic networks.
