Strengthening the International Academic Atmosphere: UNY's Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Holds Visiting Professorship with Engineering Design Experts from the University of Warwick, England

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) on August 4–13, 2025 held a Visiting Professor program by presenting Dr. Yudhi Ariadi from the School of Engineering, The University of Warwick, England. On this occasion, Dr. Yudhi presented the theme "Engineering Design: the principles and process, from identifying problems and generating ideas to creating and evaluating solutions" which provides a comprehensive understanding of the principles and processes of engineering design, from identifying problems, exploring ideas, designing solutions, to evaluating results. This activity was attended by students from various levels, from undergraduate Chemistry to doctoral Chemistry Education, who in addition to gaining insight into engineering design also received academic writing assistance as an important provision for scientific publications. The Vice Dean for Collaborative Research and Information Systems of FMIPA UNY said that this program is a real step in strengthening the international academic atmosphere at UNY, "Dr. Yudhi's presence not only opens students' insights into global standard engineering design practices, but also encourages them to be more confident in writing and publishing scientific papers," he said. Meanwhile, Dr. Yudhi stated that this collaboration is crucial for building a cross-border research network. "I see the enthusiasm of UNY students is very high, and I believe this experience will encourage them to be more courageous in expressing their ideas and contributing to the development of science at the international level," he explained. Through this program, it is hoped that a closer academic relationship will be established between UNY and Warwick University while enriching students' global perspectives in the fields of science, engineering, and education.
