The Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry Laboratory

Management Organisation

Head of The Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry Laboratory: Prof. Dr. Sri Handayani, M.Si.

Laboratory Assistant: Avian Jaya, A.Md., S.Si.

Laboratory Profile

The Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry Laboratory is an academic facility, supproting some educational activities, i.e. research, and community service in the fields of organic chemistry and biochemistry. This laboratory is designed to train students with an in-depth understanding of the structure, properties, synthesis, isolation, and characterization of organic compounds, as well as the chemical processes, occured in biological systems. Through practical and research-based learning, students are able to develop laboratory technical skills, instrumental analysis skills, scientific problem-solving skills, and the application of occupational safety principles and research ethics.

Function

  1. Education Field
To conduct Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry practical lab-works to strengthen understanding of the concepts related to structure and reactions of organic comppunds and biomolecules.

  2. Skill Improvment of Organic Compounds and Biomolecules Analysis
To train students in reflux, distillation, extraction, recrystallization, chromatography, and isolation of natural compound techniques.

  3. Research Field
To support research activities conducting by lecturers and students in the fields of organic compound synthesis, natural product chemistry, enzymology, and biomolecular analysis.

  4. Others
To facilitate thesis research based on synthesis, characterization, and activity testing of organic compounds and biomolecules.
