Hybrid Seminar "The Role of Electrochemistry in Addressing Socio-Scientific Issues Focused on Environmental Dimensions"

On February 6, 2025, the Department of Chemistry Education successfully held a hybrid seminar attended by lecturers and undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students. The seminar, titled "The Role of Electrochemistry in Addressing Socio-Scientific Issues Focused on Environmental Dimensions," featured Prof. Muammer Calik, Ph.D., from Tarbzon University, Turkey, as an expert on socio-scientific issues, and Prof. Dr. Illyas bin Md. Isa, an expert in electrochemistry, from Sultan Idris University of Education, Malaysia.

In his presentation, Prof. Muammer Calik, Ph.D., explained the importance of SSI in science learning. Incorporating SSI into learning is expected to equip students with 21st-century skills. In the field of electrochemistry, Prof. Dr. Illyas bin Md. Isa explained volumetrics and its benefits. The event also served to introduce and promote the master's and doctoral programs at the Department of Chemistry Education.

This seminar provided students with the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of SSI and electrochemistry. Students were also able to ask questions directly to professors in their areas of expertise. Besides broadening their knowledge, this seminar also strengthened the relationship between Yogyakarta State University, Tarbzon University, and Sultan Idris University of Education.
