Industrial Synergy 2: Linking Chemistry with Entrepreneurship and Industry

Chemistry Study Program FMIPA UNY held Industrial Synergy #2 activity on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. This activity was carried out as part of the Industrial Internship sub-activity of the Independent Campus Competition Program for Chemistry Study Program, FMIPA UNY. This event was divided into two sessions, namely a webinar session with alumni and a signing session on the Cooperation Implementation Draft. The event in the first session was a webinar with alumni of the Chemistry study program who worked in Industry.

The alumni who were the resource persons for this webinar activity were Muadzin Afidiansyah, S.Si. Muazzin Afidiansyah, S.Si. is an alumni of Chemistry Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNY class of 2009 who currently works in the Sales Engineer section at PT. Maja Bintang Indonesia. The company is a company that sells spectroscopic instrumentation tools (AAS, ICP, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, etc.). In his presentation, Muadzin Afidiansyah, S.Si. convey the following points.

  1. Industry is a field or activity related to the processing of raw materials.
  2. There are several industry segments, namely: a) BUMN as a government-owned company; and b) BUMS is a private or group-owned business entity by way of investment.
  3. The role of chemistry in the industrial world is related to the Quality Control Laboratory, Research and Development Laboratory, and Waste Laboratory.
  4. The application of chemistry in this industry focuses on measuring and analyzing with testing methods that can be carried out including SNI, ASTM, JIS, EN, AOAC, UOP, Pharmacopoeia, and APHA.
  5. Laboratory instrumentation is the equipment used in the laboratory to analyze laboratory examinations.
  6. Chemical instruments used in industry include: AAS, UV Vis spectrophotometer, Gas chromatography, HPLC.

After the first session was over, the event continued for the second session which was the signing of the Cooperation Implementation Plan between the Chemistry Study Program, FMIPA UNY and partners regarding industrial internships and entrepreneurship. There were two partners who were invited to this event, namely (1) Miftahudin Nur Ihsan, S.Si., M.B.A. who is a practicing entrepreneur and owner of CV. Smart Batik Indonesia and (2) Ir. Nugroho Swasto Purnomo who is an industry practitioner and director of PT. An Nuur Herbal Indonesia. Through the signing of the cooperation document, it is hoped that it can contribute to increasing opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in the field related to the world of industry and entrepreneurship.
