Minute of Meeting of Chemistry Education Department

The Chemistry Student Association (HIMA) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNY, will hold a 2021 Chemistry Education Department Dialogue on Friday, June 4, 2021 with the theme "Dare to express, echo the voice, through the aspirations of Jurdik Kimia". Dialogue is a routine activity every year that aims to evaluate and reflect on learning activities, facilities, academic services, to other activities that support the learning process in the chemical education department. This activity was attended by administrators of the chemical education department, lecturers in the chemical education department, education staff, and students majoring in chemistry education. Prior to holding the departmental dialogue, HIMA chemistry collected data using an advocacy questionnaire from March to April 2021. Overall, the results of the recap of the advocacy questionnaire showed good results on the indicators developed.

The dialogue activity began with an opening ceremony, recitation, followed by remarks by the head of HIMA chemistry, namely Faqih Saefudin, followed by remarks from the chemical education department, namely Dr. Retno Arianingrum, and remarks by the dean of FMIPA UNY, Prof. Dr. Ariswan. In his remarks, Faqih Saefudin expressed his highest appreciation to the department's management, lecturers, education staff, and students who were present in the department's dialogue activities. The highest appreciation is also given to the committee who prepared the dialogue for this department. As for Dr. Retno Arianingrum added that the Department's Dialogue activity is one of the activities to look forward to because every academic community majoring in chemistry education can conduct self-evaluation and introspection related to the learning process, infrastructure, academic services, etc. aimed at improving the quality of learning which impacts on the quality of graduates. Next Prof. Dr. Ariswan in his speech also emphasized that the input from students majoring in chemistry education was good, so he hoped that the learning process would also be good. All lecturers, employees, and students majoring in chemistry education must have a spirit of innovation so that in the future the chemistry education department will be better. If the student input is good, the learning is good, so the output will also be good, becoming a reliable and independent graduate of chemistry and chemistry education as an alternative-screw of change so that Indonesia is more advanced. Through dialogue activities, please do it with friendship efforts with the aim of finding solutions to every problem.

After the remarks, it was continued with the ideas of the 2020 co-ordinators as a result of the class deliberations. The chosen student is Fatih Enzati Sayoga Wardana from Chemistry Education C. Hopefully the 2020 co-ordinator will be able to carry out the mandate well.

Entering the core activity, it begins with the presentation of a summary of the Hima Chemistry advocacy questionnaire by Anindya Putri. The results of the recap of the advocacy questionnaire were then responded to by the management of the education department. The activity was continued with a question and answer session between students and department administrators and lecturers of the chemical education department. The management of the department is grateful for the activities that have been carried out by HIMA chemistry which has carried out evaluations, especially related to learning activities. The expected results are already good and are expected to be even better. Several important points that became the subject of discussion in the dialogue activities were: (1) the need for a follow-up on the results of today's advocacy and dialogue report so that the results of the department's minutes can be disseminated to all residents of the chemical education department; (2) the need for a solution related to the laboratory skills of students majoring in education for the class of 2019 who may be left behind because the practicum is carried out boldly. The solution offered is to take one of the practicum topics that are considered the most essential for each practicum period which is carried out as an additional lecture and is planned to be held during the semester break after the COVID-19 pandemic ends; (3) optimizing Field Work Practice (PKL) activities for Chemistry students. In this regard, the department of chemistry education has tried as optimally as possible to organize it, one of which is the implementation of the Independent Learning-Independent Campus; (4) Industrial visits are carried out in a bold fashion by inviting resource persons from certain companies. If students have difficulty finding sources, they will be assisted by the department; (5) Lecture activities must still be carried out boldly. Research activities and colloquiums for Chemistry Education students can be carried out in the laboratory by following strict procedures.

Based on what the students said, the department management together with lecturers and education staff in the chemical education department tried to improve the existing deficiencies. The collaboration of students is important so that they can synergize to improve the quality of the chemistry education department. The event closed with syawalan activities and group photos. Thank you very much to fellow students, through this activity we can sit together to solve problems related to learning chemistry and so on. Hopefully future activities will be better.
