The LAMSAMA Team Conducted a Field Visit to Accredit the UNY Chemistry Undergraduate Study Program

The Independent Accreditation Institute for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA) conducted a field assessment for the accreditation of the Bachelor of Chemistry Study Program from May 8 to 9, 2025. This activity was part of the accreditation process, which aims to assess the quality of education provided by higher education institutions. The field assessment involved evaluating various aspects, including the curriculum, teaching staff, facilities, supporting infrastructure, learning processes, and student achievement.
The LAMSAMA assessment team consisted of Prof. Dr. Ratnaningsih Eko Sardjono, M.Si., as assessor 1 (Indonesian University of Education) and Dr. Afrizal, M.Si., as assessor 2 (State University of Jakarta). Prior to the assessment, the Vice Rector for Academic, Student, and Alumni Affairs of Yogyakarta State University (UNY), Prof. Soni Nopembri, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ph.D., and the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNY, Prof. Dr. Dadan Rosana, M.Si., welcomed the assessor team from LAMSAMA and opened the field assessment.
Also present at the field assessment were Dr. Ali Mahmudin, M.Pd., Vice Dean for Academic, Student, and Alumni Affairs, FMIPA; Dr. Pujianto, M.Pd., Vice Dean for Planning, Finance, General Affairs, and Resources; Dr. Syukrul Hamdi, M.Pd., Head of Quality Assurance; Dr. Dra. Retno Arianingrum, M.Si., Head of the Chemistry Education Department and Undergraduate Chemistry Study Program; and Dr. Erfan Priyambodo, S.Pd.Si., Secretary of the Chemistry Education Department.
The field assessment began with an opening remarks, followed by remarks. In his opening remarks, the Vice Rector for Academic, Student, and Alumni Affairs of UNY, Prof. Soni Nopembri, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ph.D., welcomed and expressed his gratitude for the visit of the LAMSAM assessor team to conduct a field assessment for the accreditation of the Bachelor of Chemistry study program. He hoped that through this assessment, the quality of education at UNY and the Bachelor of Chemistry study program would further improve.
The LAMSAMA assessment criteria include nine criteria: (1) Vision, Mission, Objectives, and Strategy; (2) Governance, Governance, and Collaboration; (3) Students; (4) Human Resources; (5) Finance; Facilities and Infrastructure; (6) Education; (7) Research; (8) Community Service; and (9) Tridharma Outputs and Achievements. On the first day of the accreditation process, the two assessors presented the LED and LKPS completed by the Faculties and Study Programs and asked for clarification regarding the report evidence. They also conducted interviews with several parties to strengthen the evidence against the submitted criteria, including: (1) Lecturers of the Undergraduate Chemistry Study Program, (2) Students, (3) Alumni, and (4) alumni users.
On the second day (May 9, 2025), the field assessment focused on reviewing academic facilities, including: lecture halls, classrooms, academic services, laboratories, and several other facilities. Assessor 1, Prof. Dr. Ratnaningsih Eko Sardjono, M.Sc., reminded that the current accreditation process no longer simply measures compliance with standards, but rather impact and sustainability. "Study programs must be able to demonstrate their added value to the wider community. Quality standards must not only be met, but must also be viable and thriving," she said. The Head of the Undergraduate Chemistry Study Program, Dr. Retno Arianingrum, M.Si., stated that the entire assessment process is a form of collective evaluation of achievements and planned improvement strategies. "We don't view the assessment as merely an assessment, but rather as a collaborative learning space, as well as a way to strengthen our commitment to maintaining quality systematically," she explained.
