Chemistry students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) gained experience through visits to Viva Cosmetics and Yakult.

Students from the Chemistry Program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) participated in an industrial visit on December 1–2, 2025. This visit included tours of two prominent companies: PT Vitapharm (Viva Cosmetics) and PT Yakult Indonesia Persada, located in Ngoro, Mojokerto. This experience provided students with a valuable opportunity to observe the practical applications of chemistry in various industries, including cosmetics and fermented foods.

During the visit, participants received comprehensive theoretical explanations alongside practical demonstrations of production processes, quality control measures, and product safety standards. Accompanying the students were two esteemed faculty members from the Chemistry Program, Dr. Siti Marwati and Dr. Dewi Yuanita Lestari, who facilitated the connection between the students' field experiences and the academic material covered in their coursework.

Dr. Siti Marwati emphasized the importance of this industrial visit, stating, "This initiative is essential in providing students with real-world exposure to the industrial sector, allowing them to witness firsthand the application of chemical concepts in both production and quality control."

At PT Vitapharm (Viva Cosmetics), students gained valuable insights into the cosmetics manufacturing process, including aspects such as raw material selection, formulation, and product quality testing. Meanwhile, the visit to PT Yakult Indonesia Persada introduced students to the fermentation, processing, and packaging procedures for probiotic beverages, all of which adhere to stringent hygiene and food safety standards.

Dr. Dewi Yuanita Lestari noted that the activity is expected to enhance students' preparedness for the professional environment. "This visit not only reinforces academic learning but also helps students understand the workplace culture, discipline, and professional standards that are integral to the industry," she explained.

The event garnered favorable responses from the students. One participant remarked on the significance of the visit: "This experience significantly broadened our understanding of the career opportunities available to Chemistry graduates and has motivated us to begin our preparations early."

Through this industrial visit, the Chemistry Study Program at FMIPA UNY aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully navigate the challenges of the professional world while fostering the development of both academic and professional competencies.
