Socialisation, Research Talent Screening, and Call of Idea by Nuclear Power Research Organisation-National Agency for Research and Innovation (BRIN)

Thursday, 22 August 2024, located in Seminar Room 3, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences - State University of Yogyakarta (UNY), the Nuclear Power Research Organisation, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) conducted a visit in the context of socialising research innovations in the field of nuclear technology in Indonesia. It was an honour for the Department of Chemistry Education, FMIPA-UNY to be one of the destinations of this event. Several other universities such as Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), and Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY) also received a visit. This event was initiated by researchers who have a research concentration in nuclear technology within BRIN. This activity aims to provide information to the academic community in universities (researchers, lecturers, and students) regarding research trends in the field of nuclear technology. In addition, this event also opens opportunities for the academic community within university to be able to collaborate in research and resolve issues related to the development of nuclear technology in Indonesia.

Mr Syaiful Bakhri as the speaker from BRIN outlined the scope and potential of research in the field of nuclear technology in Indonesia. Nuclear technology research innovation in Indonesia deserves serious attention from various parties in order to resolve issues related to nuclear technology. The results of nuclear technology research are definitely beneficial for the society. Nuclear technology can be utilised in several fields such as medical, energy, and therapy (treatment). On this occasion, Syaiful Bakhri delivered several important points including the potential for fairly extensive research funding, and research collaboration with foreign institutions. ‘I hope that the academic community in the Department of Chemistry Education can contribute the results of research innovations in the field of nuclear technology”.

Dr Retno Arianingrum as Head of the Department of Chemistry Education warmly welcomed the presentation of nuclear technology research topics by BRIN. “From now on, we as lecturers will strive to add research topics in the field of nuclear technology. This event is very valuable for us, because through this we are now able to have an overview of research in the field of nuclear technology”. During this activity, which was attended by lecturers and students, there were academic discussions that added new insights and knowledge.
